The story behind DUKE On March 24, 1980 #GENESIS released an underrated but nevertheless fabulous album named DUKE. Expecting some kind of story about a medieval duke and being a captive fan of GENESIS I rushed to my local record store, bought the album on the very first day and could not wait to listen to it for the first time. To my surprise, there was no consistent concept and the songs were only partially connected. In fact, there were a few tracks that were about a guy named Albert, but equally influential was a female pop star known as The Duchess. Finally, there were some individual songs that were completely outside of any concept. As I still found the album fascinating, I decided to tell the true story of The Duke. I researched the instruments and effects the band had used in 1980, got access to them and developed the story of a medieval Duke who, betrayed by his own henchmen, flees into the distant desert to find his way back to himself. There he regains his strength before finally answering the call of his still loyal people and returning home with their help. I tried to recreate the famous wall of sound often used by GENESIS as best I could - even though I certainly don't come close to the band's genius. The result is an album to which I have devoted a lot of heart and soul, and which I hope you will enjoy. This is the story of The Duke…
